Clutter sucks. So does friction.
Especially in a life that is basically deprived of free time.
Preface (I think that’s what this is called ;-;)
So I started med school (please kill me end my miseryy ts pmo icl) this year. So I got into something of a time constraint. Because of constant classes, assignments and other stuff. So that meant ditching tinkering.
Y’know what?
***IT ACTUALLY FUCKIN MADE ME HAPPIER
Before this I was constantly tinkering with different dotfiles and libraries and frameworks and stuff like that and in the end that all just made me less productive. I was constantly telling myself that “Hmm… doing this tweak to your neovim config or adding this tweak will make you 10000% more productive because you’ll be saving 30 ms every time you write code” and then end up spending an hour re writing my whole config. :|
Yes I know now I was just coping and honestly maybe knew that even back then but probably just shoved it in my subconciousness because I was afraid of facing reality I think.
But now? I’m just doing defaults
No damn fancy tiling window managers unless I am actively working on a bug project, No using fancy frameworks and just sticking to tried and tested things I’ve been actually using for years. And no more attempts at ricing to make a pretty looking screenshot to get random internet strangers to go “woah pretty”.
And that actually made me genuinely MUCH more productive and satisfied.
So uhhh the lesson here is that you should just stop trying to overcomplicate your setup and just only tweak what YOU need instead of whatever some stranger is doing online with their rice.
